Payments

Cash discounts are available on all the horses, package deals are also an option on multiple horses purchased. 

 

Sable Ranch allows you to make interest free payments on horses we sell. Payment schedule is set up according to your needs. You can pay weekly, or monthly or bi monthly on the date that suits your schedule. There is no prepayment penalty, we want your horse home with you as soon as you can. **There is a Payment Calculator at the bottom of this page. 

$5000 - $9000: Minimum deposit of $1500. 

$9001+ : Minimum deposit of $2000.

Insurance

Insurance for theft/mortality is suggested for horses under $9000, and is required for horses over $9001 theft/mortality. You can choose the company (rates vary from 2.9%-8%). Allison Gelfand must be listed as a lien holder on the policy till the horse is paid in full. 

 

Board

All horses on payments will be charged board if they are 4 months or older. Board as of 9/7/23 is $250/mo., subject to change as hay prices change. Board includes group pen or pasture, free choice hay water and salt. Supplements and Grains are not included. 

 

Horse Care

Horses can not leave Sable Ranch till paid in full. If a Horse on payments requires veterinary care, the buyer is responsible. If reasonable veterinary care is not provided to the horse this is considered breach of contract and will void the contract. All hoof care, vaccinations, worming and supplies that the horse needs while on payments will be the financial responsibility of the buyer. Non payment will be considered a lien against the horse and will render the contract not paid in full, and the horse can not leave the property of Sable Ranch till paid in full.

 

Lein Holder

Once the sale contract is signed or the loan deposit is made on the horse/contract, Sable Ranch is no longer the seller, the lien holder of the loan is Allison Gelfand. The loan is a secured loan where the horse is the collateral. All loan payments are non refundable. Non payment  for 30 days, without written and signed amendment from lien holder and buyer,  is considered default and breach of contract. The horse will be held as collateral by Allison Gelfand till the loan is paid in full. Payments 60 days overdue will result in cancelation of the contract and the horse will be relisted for sale. 

 

Pre Purchase Visits and Exams

A $500 refundable deposit can be made to hold a horse off the market to allow the buyer reasonable time to schedule a veterinary pre purchase appointment, or to schedule your travel time to visit the horse. This will not be refunded if you are a no show, no call. If the Veterinarian is a no show, no call because of an Emergency appointment we will allow for rescheduling or delays within the same 7 calendar days. Processing fees for this payment are non refundable and do not apply to the purchase price of the horse, there are free ways, to make these payments (Zelle, Venmo, Cash ap)

 

Payment Processing Fees

Electronic payments may be subject to fees based on the system used (cash ap, venmo, zelle, paypal, ACH, credit card) All fees are the responsibility of the buyer and will be quoted by the seller based on current rates for that payment system.

Checks are not cash and will require them to clear the bank + 10 days before the payment is considered cleared. Any bank charges incurred from check cashing complications are the buyers responsibility and will result in checks no longer being an acceptable form of payment from the buyer.

 

Registration

Registration will be handled by the seller, as the mare owner. In some cases the horse name can be selected by the buyer. KFPS mainbook foals can not have their name changed after they are entered into the KFPS database. KFPS membership is required for registering horses with the KFPS in the Buyers name. FHH does not require the buyer to be a member to register horses with them. FHH papers and KFPS papers can be used to register your horse with USEF USDF and IFSHA for show purposes.
